The Catalan Institute of Oncology is a centre for integral oncologic care, which following the current international trends, merges in one single organisation all the elements and efforts to effectively and efficiently fight against cancer.
The Institute is an advanced and highly specialised centre in oncology that offers in a co-ordinated form diagnosis, treatment, prevention, research and training. The Institute counts on a hospitalisation area and a number of therapeutical services to provide state-of-the-art oncologic care.
The objectives of the Institute were laid down by its statutes which were published on February 7th, 1995, in the "Diario Oficial de la Generalitat de Catalunya", the official legislative journal of the Catalan Goverment. The Institute is governed by the Administration Committee formed by 12 members, who represented the differents Catalan Health Departments of the Catalan Goverment.
